Victoria L. Reid is a passionate healthcare professional and amateur cyclist, and a firm believer that “movement is medicine”. Victoria enjoys mountain, gravel, road and fat biking and has recently started competing in duathlon and Ultra marathon events.
What is your favourite place to ride in New Brunswick? Victoria and her husband Chris are newer residents of Perth-Andover, NB where their love of nature and community are rooted in outdoor pursuits and a healthy lifestyle. Victoria’s list of favourite places to ride in New Brunswick is ever-expanding; most recently enjoying the Colebrook mountain bike trails in Grand Falls.
What is your favourite post ride treat? New-Brunswick’s own Mercury ice-cream on a hot day!
What is something that you have been proud to accomplish while riding your bike? Victoria’s interests lie in the social determinants of health and working collaboratively with community partners to break down barriers to create more opportunities for women in cycling and inclusivity in sport. A particularly proud accomplishment achieved through cycling is completing 1755km and raising almost $600 in August 2022 in support of SickKids Foundation’s Great Cycle Challenge.
What are some of the abilities and skills that you would like to highlight that you bring to Velo NB? Victoria’s background in community development has enabled her to work alongside community grassroots organizations, provincial, federal governments and local stakeholders to develop strategies to meet the needs of individuals and communities. Her work includes growing and developing amateur sports groups, capacity building in organizations aimed at enhancing the volunteer sector, and research/policy work with professional nursing associations. She is admittedly a tech-head and enjoys all things geek.
