What part of NB are you from and what club do you ride with? I am from Fredericton NB and I ride with Radical Edge.
How did you get started in cycling? I grew up in a cycling family. From a very young age, we would go on bikepacking trips every summer, exploring different parts of the Maritimes or the West Coast when we lived there. I was also part of a youth cycling program in Victoria, similar to HopOn, which played a big role in sparking my early interest and success in biking. Although I’ve only entered the race scene in the past three years, cycling has always been a part of my life.
What’s been your proudest cycling moment so far? I think my proudest moment in cycling so far occurred at the beginning of June this year. It didn’t take place during a race but rather at the annual Fredericton Gravel Grind. The conditions were horrible, it was freezing cold, pouring rain and I may not have moved quickly but I was the only women to complete the 128km loop. I was very proud of that.
What does it mean to you to represent NB at the Canada Games? It means so much to me to have the opportunity to represent New Brunswick at these Canada Games. I am lucky to have had the chance to represent NB in 2023 at the Canada Winter Games for cross country skiing and it was one of the best experiences of my life so I am so excited to be able to live through the games again and wear the NB colours with pride.
What’s your favourite place to ride in NB? My favourite place to ride in New Brunswick is along the Nashwaak river on the way out to Penniac. I love being close to the river, and it’s the perfect terrain for any type of ride, let that be intervals or a long ride.
What’s one goal you’ve set for yourself at the Games? To enjoy myself and have fun racing with a larger group.
Any pre-race rituals or must-have gear? My must have gear is definitely my pink water bottles, I’m convinced they give me extra speed and they look pretty cool.
Who’s your biggest supporter or role model in cycling? My family has always been my biggest support system when it comes to biking. My parents constantly inspire me to keep riding and are there cheering me on at every race.
