I’m originally from Scotch Settlement (not far from Mactaquac Park). I spent most of my childhood on the east side of Saint John. Began regular cycling so that I could deliver newspapers faster. Upon graduating from UNB, I moved to the Moncton area. I tried a provincial MTB race at Beaumont in 1991, and was hooked!
What is your favourite place to ride in New Brunswick? For over 30 years I have enjoyed traveling around the province and participating in Velo NB events. I would not say I have a favourite or a preference. Every region has unique features and enthusiastic cyclists.
What is your favourite post ride treat? I like to eat sweet treats with espresso mid ride, and a regional craft brew post.
What is something that you have been proud to accomplish while riding your bike? With the decades of participation I have accumulated lots of highs and lows to be proud of. Nowadays I take pride in helping less experienced riders make riding easier and safer.
What are some of the abilities and skills that you would like to highlight that you bring to Velo NB? I have always been a jack of all trades, master of none. I’ve always taken on the roles that were empty. This has provided me with a broad context and I feel like I can contribute to most cycling governance discussions.
What is something that you’re proud of accomplishing during your time at Velo NB? In my latest role on the board I have worked on the officiating file. Leveraging the Canada cup in Dieppe and Kentville there are several officials getting national level mentorship.
